Jumping for Joy with AASK Sibling Day!
“Arizona is experiencing a record number of children in foster care. These children enter the system by no fault of their own and often come from backgrounds filled with abuse, neglect and pain.” AASK (Aid to Adoption of Special Kids) is a private non-profit charity that was founded in 1988 with the mission of serving children in Arizona’s foster care system.
Let’s Make a Difference Together
Opportunity4Kids connected with AASK and their mission to help children in the foster care system and decided we wanted to help provide positivity in these kids’ lives! In hearing that often siblings are separated from one another during home placement and eventually even adoption, our hearts sunk. Then we found out AASK provides one day per month, a sibling outing, where siblings come together to be kids and spend quality time together.
A Special Day for All
On August 14th, 65 siblings and chaperone volunteers from AASK gathered at Jump City in Phoenix for a fun filled day of trampoline jumping. For two hours, the kiddos roamed the Jump city facility complete with over 20 trampolines, dodge ball, a basketball dunking trampoline and a well-equipped arcade. Opportunity4Kids also provided pizza lunch with Gatorade for the group.
While the trampoline jumping was a lot of fun for the siblings, it was apparent what was most appreciated by the kids was being with one another. The love and light spirited play that filled the building was inspiring. We are so grateful to have been invited to sponsor this special day!
