HC’s Story

“I wanted to personally thank you for donating money for my trip to New York for Model UN. Without your very generous donation, I don’t think I would have been able to, so I truly thank you! While I was in New York, I got to visit Time Square, China Town, and the United Nations Headquarter, which was amazing. So least to say, I had a great time. However I not only had fun but I got to learn a lot, especially during the conference.

During the conference, we debated the issue of illicit trade of small arms and light weapons. The committee I was a part of consisted of over 140 countries. I represented Tajikistan, a small Middle Eastern country. In committee we worked for 4 days to find a solution to fix this very pressing issue. We started with 23 working papers and ended up with 4 resolutions. So it was a very successful week! This conference was a collegiate conference, so I got to act like a college student for a week, as well as meet some very cool people. This conference showed me what I have to look forward to and I am very excited!! Well I really just wanted to thank you again! This really meant the world to me and I appreciate what you did!”
