Summer Camp Sponsorships with Boys & Girls Club!
The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Phoenix Bob & Renee Parsons Branch gives children ages 5-18 in Phoenix a safe place to spend time after school. This branch serves an average of 280 kids on any given school day- with 53% of Club members coming from single parent/guardian households, 77% living under the federal poverty line and 96% being of a racial minority. To top things off, this location provided more than 18,000 hot and healthy meals to Club members last year!
Making a Difference in More Ways Than One
The invaluable service that this branch extends is much more than just a place to hang out. Here, youth and teens create bonds and friendships that last a lifetime. They are surrounded with positive role models that they can go to for mentorship and guidance; all while participating in programs that provide a fun learning environment in which they expand their minds and develop important life skills.
Opportunity4Kids Meet Boy & Girls Club
It came to our attention this summer, that many of the normal after school faces might not have the financial resources to attend the two-part summer program. Immediately, Opportunity4Kids stepped up to sponsor nearly 100 kids of varying ages to participate in the full 2 summer camp sessions. We are so grateful that these children will not only have a cool escape for the summer but also a great way to keep their brains engaged leading up to a new school year!
UP NEXT: Water Day!
Summer camp just would not be the same without a Water Day to wrap things up! Therefore, Opportunity4Kids also offered to host a super fun day for the campers on 7/22. Stay tuned for our next Blog on the Water Day activities!
