With 31% of children overweight or obese in the US*, healthy eating is becoming a very important objective in today’s society. As a non-profit focused on creating opportunities for children, Opportunity4Kids has decided to host a series of ‘Making Healthy Choices’ Cooking Classes. The first of which took place last week on what we have casually deemed Wellness Wednesday. The evening featured Marni Gerber, a health food enthusiast and Arbonne Independent Consultant and was sponsored by Sprouts Farmers Market on Shea Boulevard.
Children and parents gathered in North Scottsdale to learn exciting nutritional facts about fruits, while then incorporating them into delicious protein smoothies.
Marni started with a simple vanilla smoothie, featuring Arbonne’s versatile protein powder, sure to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. She then threw in a few fruits for flavor and even mentioned some optional, add-in ingredients such as spinach and Chia Seeds that parents can utilize for extra texture and nutrients.
Marni also showcased an amazingly, easy to make protein bar recipe that honestly tastes so delicious you won’t be able to eat just one!
The night ended with a quick game of tag for the children- as the best way to compliment healthy eating is with at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day!
