Eliaz the Knock-Out!
Eliaz is a 14-year old amazing straight A student who loves boxing. Eliaz began boxing at the age of 7 and is very passionate about the sport. On average, Eliaz spends 4-5 days a week practicing for at least 2-3 hours each time. Talk about dedication!
What’s Going on Outside the Ring
Eliaz’s mother is a stay at home mom who takes car of Eliaz’s 16-year old brother, who has a rare disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa. The family relies on the father’s income to get by. Eliaz’s family had been going through some rough financial times due to his father’s health conditions. Eliaz’s father went for a doctor’s visit and found out he had colon cancer and instantly needed surgery. With having to deal with Eliaz’s dad’s health issues, it was hard for his dad to work and come up with the money to have Eliaz continue on with his boxing.
An Opportunity to Fight!
In July of 2017, Opportunity4Kids was excited to Scholarship Eliaz and pay for 3 months of boxing lessons and equipment that Eliaz needed to continue boxing. Opportunity4Kids purchased Eliaz brand new boxing shoes, headgear and hand wraps- all in his favorite matching colors. To top things off, upon receiving his new shoes, Eliaz gave his old shoes to his boxing teacher to give to another child in need. We’re proud to say that Eliaz now volunteers at the boxing gym he trains at too. What an amazing kiddo!
Opportunity4Kids continued providing Scholarship for Eliaz to pursue his boxing lessons. Most recently, we granted Scholarship for Eliaz to participate in another 5 months of boxing along in a brand new pair of gloves. Opportunity4Kids is excited to watch Eliaz pursue his dreams of boxing!
